E-Waste Recycling in Singapore
Singapore’s E-Waste Management and Recycling Efforts
According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore generates tens of thousands of tones of electronic waste (e-waste) every year — from discarded computers and mobile phones to household appliances and industrial equipment.
E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams, containing valuable metals such as copper, gold, and palladium, alongside hazardous materials that must be properly managed.
E-Waste Producer Responsibility Scheme
To tackle this challenge, Singapore introduced the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme for e-waste in 2021. Under this system, producers and importers are responsible for the proper collection and recycling of regulated electronic products.

What is E-Waste Recycling?
E-waste (electronic waste) refers to discarded electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, televisions, and other electronic appliances. These devices contain hazardous materials that can harm the environment if not disposed of properly.
E-waste recycling involves the process of recovering valuable materials from these devices while ensuring safe and environmentally friendly disposal.
At Gee Hoe Seng, we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of electronic waste. By using our e-waste recycling services, you can be confident that your electronic waste is being disposed and handled in an environmentally responsible manner.

Our E-Waste Recycling Process
E-waste recycling is a complex process. At Gee Hoe Seng, our team ensures that electronic waste is handled securely and responsibly. We are always available to answer your questions and guide you on how to properly dispose of e-waste in compliance with NEA regulations.
In general, the process of e-waste recycling involves several key stages:
1. E-Waste Collection
Electronic waste is collected from offices, factories, warehouses, and commercial buildings using our own fleet of vehicles. Our in-house team ensures timely, and compliant collection for all clients.
2. E-Waste Sorting
Collected materials are sorted into categories such as computers, laptops, desktops, power supply, heatsinks etc. This step ensures that components are properly categorized.
3. Data Destruction
If required, sensitive data stored in devices such as hard drives and servers is securely erased or physically destroyed using certified data destruction methods, ensuring complete confidentiality.
4. Dismantling & Material Recovery
The e-waste is dismantled into components (plastics, circuit boards, metals). Materials are separated for recovery, while other parts are safely treated.
5. Recycling & Refining
Recovered materials are sent to licensed recyclers for refining and processing into new raw materials — supporting a circular economy and reducing the demand for virgin resources.
