Recycling & Cash for Trash Services for Businesses in Singapore

NEA General Waste Collector — Class A & B · Since 1992

Gee Hoe Seng provides NEA-licensed recycling and cash for trash collection for offices, warehouses, factories, and commercial businesses across Singapore. We hold a General Waste Collector licence (Class A and Class B) issued by the National Environment Agency. We have operated in Singapore since 1992.

Cash rebates are paid for approved recyclable materials including paper, cardboard, metals, and qualifying industrial plastics. Scheduled collection applies to 500kg or more. Self drop-off is available at our facility at 53 Ubi Avenue 1 with no minimum weight requirement. Ad-hoc collection starts from $120 per trip.

Singapore Recycling Statistics

Singapore’s overall recycling rate declined from 52% in 2023 to 50% in 2024 — a reminder of the challenges ahead, but also an opportunity for businesses to strengthen recycling practices and reduce wastes sent for incineration.

At Gee Hoe Seng Pte Ltd, we support businesses and organizations in improving recycling outcomes through flexible collection programs, transparent reporting, and rebate-based recycling solutions for approved materials. Whether via scheduled collections or self drop-offs, our services are designed to align with Singapore’s sustainability and waste reduction goals.

What Is Cash for Trash and How Does It Work?

Cash for trash is a recycling collection programme where businesses sell approved recyclable materials — paper, cardboard, metals, and qualifying plastics — to a licensed collector in exchange for cash payment based on weight.

At Gee Hoe Seng, we collect bulk recyclables from your premises and pay you based on the material type and weight collected. Rebates are based on prevailing market rates. Clean, non-contaminated materials qualify for payment. Contaminated or mixed loads do not qualify for rebates and may incur disposal charges.

What We Collect — Accepted Materials

We accept the following commercial and industrial recyclables. All materials must be properly sorted and free from contamination to qualify for collection or cash rebates.

We accept CPUs, laptops, network switches, and servers. We do not accept printers, monitors, photocopiers, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, or home appliances.

We accept both pre-consumed and post-consumed food waste from commercial and industrial premises — including kitchen scraps, expired food, grains, and food manufacturing residues. Contaminated loads are charged at higher disposal rates.

We accept all types of clean ferrous and non-ferrous metals. We do not accept standing fans or mixed-material items.

We accept carton boxes, black and white office paper, newspapers, and magazines. We do not accept arch files, carbon paper, coated or waxed paper, or papers with plastic layers.

We accept industrial-grade single-type plastics in bulk quantities of 500kg or more, such as PE film and IC trays. We do not accept consumer plastics — PET bottles, food containers, plastic bags — or household packaging.

We accept precious metal-bearing materials including gold, silver, platinum, and palladium from semiconductor manufacturers, electronics assembly plants, data centres, and industrial operators. We do not accept household electronics, consumer devices, or materials with no recoverable precious metal content.

Why Proper Segregation Matters

Recycling outcomes depend directly on how materials are sorted and prepared. Improperly sorted or contaminated recyclables may be rejected and redirected to general waste, resulting in disposal charges rather than rebates.

To qualify for cash rebates:
– Sort by material type — paper separate from metal, metal separate from plastic
– Remove all food residue, liquids, and non-recyclable items
– Keep materials dry and clean
– Do not mix recyclable and non-recyclable materials in the same load

Proper segregation also supports accurate recycling reporting, ESG documentation, and compliance with NEA mandatory waste reporting requirements under the Resource Sustainability Act.

How Our Recycling and Cash for Trash Process Works

Our process is simple, transparent, and designed to make recycling easy for everyone.

Sort & Prepare

Separate your recyclables by material type (e.g., paper, metal, plastic) and ensure they’re clean and free from contaminants.

Schedule a Collection or Drop-Off

Arrange for a convenient pickup or bring your recyclables directly to our facility. Minimum collection weight applies for scheduled pickups.

Weigh & Earn Rebates

All recyclables are weighed on-site using calibrated scales. Rebates are issued based on material type and weight — no hidden charges.

Receive Recycling Reports

For regular clients, we provide monthly recycling reports summarizing material types, weights, and collection frequencies — ideal for sustainability tracking, ESG documentation, and NEA mandatory waste reporting.

Confidential items such as documents, hard drives, and storage media are not processed under our general recycling services. These materials are securely managed through Gee Hoe Seng’s Secure Data Destruction Services, which include shredding or data wipe, in compliance with data protection standards. Gee Hoe Seng does not currently provide carton boxes, gunny sacks, or recycling bins. To ensure smooth collection, recyclables should be boxed, tied, or palletized before pickup.

We encourage customers to purchase their own recycling bins to promote responsibility and ownership over recycling practices. For large-volume collections, we offer open-top container placement services upon request — contact our team to find the best fit for your needs.

Our recycling collection services are currently available for commercial and industrial clients only. We do not provide residential or household recyclable collections at this time. However, homeowners are welcome to drop off recyclables at our facility.

Ad-hoc recycling collection requests require dedicated trips outside our regular recycling routes, resulting in additional logistics, manpower, and transport costs. As these are one-off services that typically involve smaller quantities of recyclables, a service fee starting from $120 per trip applies to cover operational expenses and ensure efficient collection.

Recycling office documents, mixed paper, and carbon paper requires additional effort because these materials often include clips, folders, plastic sleeves, or other non-recyclable items. Our team performs extra sorting and separation before the paper can be processed properly. A service fee helps cover the labor, sorting, and recycling costs involved in ensuring responsible disposal.

Yes — Gee Hoe Seng offers cash rebates for approved recyclable materials. You can receive payment when you drop off recyclables at our facility or when your collection exceeds 500 kg. Rebates are based on current market rates and apply only to clean, non-contaminated items. Non-recyclable or soiled materials are not eligible for payment.

Yes. Gee Hoe Seng provides regular recycling collection for weights above 500 kg.

Please always sort recyclables by material type (e.g., paper, metal, plastic) and keep all items clean and dry. Remove any food residue, liquids, or non-recyclable materials, as contaminated recyclables may incur disposal charges. Proper preparation helps Gee Hoe Seng maintain safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible recycling services in Singapore.
