Table Calendar

Learn how Gee Hoe Seng Pte Ltd (GHS) handles the responsible recycling of table calendars and their components in Singapore.

Table calendars are recyclable, but they usually consist of two materials — paper and metal wire binding. To ensure efficient recycling, these parts must be separated before disposal.

Is it Recyclable?

Yes — table calendars are recyclable once separated.

Most table calendars are made of paper sheets bound by metal wires or spiral rings. These two materials need to be processed differently — paper in paper recycling, and wire binders in metal recycling, and should not be recycled together as a single item.

Why and What Parts Can Be Recycled?

Discover how proper separation of materials from table calendars helps improve recycling efficiency and prevents contamination.

Here’s why recycling works

  • Paper pages can be recycled into new paper products through fiber recovery.
  • Metal wire binders can be recycled as ferrous metal scrap.
  • Separating the two materials ensures cleaner processing and higher recycling value.
Recyclable
  • Paper pages (uncoated)
  • Metal wire binders (iron or steel)

What limits recyclability

  • Plastic or laminated covers cannot be pulped or smelted.
  • Intact calendars containing both paper and metal cannot be processed efficiently.
Not Recyclable
  • Rubber bands, clips, or decorative attachments
  • Plastic covers, laminated pages or sticker labels

Note: Always detach the wire binder before recycling. Paper and metal must be recycled separately for proper processing.

Additional Information
Loads containing mixed paper and metal may require manual sorting and may incur handling charges.

How to Prepare Before Collection / Drop-Off

  • Remove wire binders – Detach spiral or metal rings from the calendar.

  • Separate by material type – Place paper with paper recyclables and metal with metal scrap.

  • Do not mix materials – Avoid sending intact calendars containing both metal and paper.
