Copper Pipe

Learn how Gee Hoe Seng Pte Ltd (GHS) handles the collection and recycling of copper pipes in Singapore responsibly and efficiently.

Copper is a highly valuable and endlessly recyclable metal, commonly used in plumbing and industrial applications. Recycling copper pipes helps conserve natural resources, reduce energy use, and lower environmental impact — all while returning value to businesses and households that recycle responsibly.

Is it Recyclable?

Yes — copper pipes are 100% recyclable.

Copper pipes, both painted and unpainted, can be recycled for reuse. Unpainted copper fetches a higher recycling value as it requires less cleaning and processing, while painted pipes remain recyclable but may be slightly devalued due to coating and paint residue.

Why and What Parts Can Be Recycled?

Discover how copper pipe recycling helps promote sustainable construction and resource efficiency.

Here’s why recycling works

  • Copper retains its value and conductivity even after multiple recycling cycles.
Recyclable
  • Unpainted copper pipes and tubing
  • Painted or coated copper pipes
  • Cut copper pipe sections and fittings

What limits recyclability

  • Painted or coated pipes require additional stripping and cleaning.
  • Brass, iron, or solder joints mixed with copper reduce purity.
  • Residue, adhesives, or coatings lower recovery efficiency and material grade.
Not Recyclable
  • Copper pipes with plastic insulation or rubber coatings still attached
  • Contaminated or burnt pipes

Note: You do not need to polish or bend the pipes. Simply ensure they are clean, dry, and free from fittings or contaminants before collection.

Additional Information
Loads containing mixed-metal, or insulated pipes may be subjected to reduced weight valuation due to contamination.

How to Prepare Before Collection / Drop-Off

  • Keep pipes clean and dry – Wipe off dust and oil before recycling.

  • Separate materials – Sort pure copper pipes apart from brass, iron, or mixed-metal fittings.

  • Remove non-copper components – Detach any plastic insulation, rubber seals, or brass connectors.

  • Do not send insulated pipes.
